- Gel batteries have become an alternative to classic lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel batteries do not require maintenance. This means they do not require electrolyte supplementation. Gel batteries have a hermetically sealed body and electrolyte in the form of a gel, which ensures that it will not leak, so the battery can be held in any position and is more resistant to shocks. One of the most advantages of batteries is their service life. Importantly, gel batteries are also more resistant to changing and extreme weather conditions and have low self-discharge. Gel batteries are used e.g. in motorcycles, golf carts and lawn mowers. They are also used in uninterruptible power supplies, photovoltaic devices, alarm systems, and electric toys.

Gel batteries can be stored for several months without needing to be recharged.
Battery capacity decreases to:
• 91% after 3 months
• 82% after 6 months
• 64% after 9 months
