Lai veiktu pareizo izvēli ir jāzin :
- Kādu spriegums izmanto elektriskā ierīce - ko apzīmē voltos (V)
- Kāda ir maksimālā jauda ko patērēs iekārta - vatos (W). Reizēm uz ierīces ir norādīta maksimālā strāva ampēros (A) . Tad jaudu viegli aprēķināt pēc formulas: Jauda=Spriegums x Strāva (W=VxA)
LED apgaismojumam izmanto parasti izmanto 12V barošanas blokus , taču reizēm , ja ir paredzēta gara LED lenta vai projektā ir daudz LED gaismekļi - tiek izmantoti 24V barošanas bloki.
Videonovērošanā (CCTV) izmanto 12V barošanas blokus.
Citām elektriskām iekārtām ērti izmantot Universālos barošanas blokus , kur var iestatīt spriegumu sākot no 3V līdz 12V . Komplektā ir 6-7gab. dažādi konektori, kurus ir ērti nomainīt.
Izvēloties barošanas bloku jāņem vērā , ka nedrīkst izmantot mazākas jaudas barošanas bloku, kā paradzēts. Ja pat sākotnēji tas strādās - tad vēlāk sāks silt un sabojāsies.
